I’m certainly a glutton for punishment, and now that the weather has cooled enough, have decided to wield truly massive bottles once again. The Ampeleia 2008 Cabernet Franc was bright and textured and herbaceous and delicious (with a subtle earth/sea saline from age) when we opened it back in August…but the weather was non-cooperative!
Thankfully I’ve two more 18Ls, and now that we’re full into the Fall Menu (and the Coq au Vin is back!) I felt it high time that we return to the stunning experience of a tableside pour from a very, very big bottle.
