Oh La La! Rosé from the Entre-Deux-Mers

The end of August calls for BIG bottles of rosé – because why shouldn’t we celebrate the heat in style? For this week, I’ve grabbed multiple 6Ls of the Despagne Family’s ‘Oh La La’ – a mostly Cabernet-driven (50% Cab Sauvignon; 45% Cab Franc) summer quencher that has just the right amount of dark fruit and structure for the food here at Bar Boulud.

The Entre-Deux-Mers, a region literally  between two rivers on the right bank, is a fabulous source of delicious Bordeaux that goes relatively unnoticed over here in the US. I was lucky enough to visit a couple of summers back, and had a great time tasting through at many wineries I had never heard of. The Despagne Family has been making wine in this region for over 200 years, and own many historic properties and land, ranging back to Medieval buildings! They are a stalwart representation of their terroir, and this ‘Oh La La’ rosé is a terrifically fun introduction to their wines. Santé!
