As has been the case of late, I’m getting fairly obsessed with larger and larger formats – the bigger the better! Our good friends at Domaine Chapel are now a couple of vintages in and the wines are getting better and better. They bottled us some Methuselahs of their old-vine Fleurie from the vineyard ‘Charbonnières’—fruit they purchased from the famous Yvon Métras. This is an organically-farmed vineyard with 40-65 year old vines, yielding depth and complexity. Full of dark, crunchy fruit and a wonderful earth spice, this is Fleurie that is immensely-textured and extremely pleasurable.
We’ll be cracking these Methuselahs all week ‘til they’re gone!
