For the end of Cassoulet Month, we return for round 2 of the biggest bottle we’ve ever poured from here at Bar Boulud: an 18L of Bordeaux. Two whole cases of wine all at once, and weighing in at nearly 44 pounds, this bottle is no joke.
Two weeks ago it lasted from Tuesday til Friday. It was youthful and firm on the first day, approaching elegant on day 2 and pure all throughout the week. Even the last glasses on Friday were delicious. It’s so much fun to get to share this with you all. It makes sense they named this bottle shape a Melchior – as the one of the Three Magi who brought the gold, it’s clear he’s the one you’d want to bring to the party.
