Massive Montus and Brawny Bolgheri

We’re plowing ahead here on 64th Street, with the heaters cranking and wine flowing, regardless of the intriguing times we find ourselves in.

As the weather begins to dip back down again, I wanted to move out of Burgundy and into larger, fuller wines. Of course we’re staying with really big bottles — what’s more fun than that?

For the early week we’ll pour the rustic, broad wine of Montus, the star of Gascony. This wine is always great with a couple days of air, and is a fabulous pairing with the Bar Boulud bistro fare.

For the weekend, Ornellaia’s little sibling wine, Le Serre Nuove. Meaty, bloody and rich, it’s sure to warm you up.
