Champagne Season

This week at Bar Boulud, we will be popping some of the best Champagne we know of, wines from Georges Laval, Bérêche, Emmanuel Brochet, Pascal Doquet, Ployez-Jacquemart, Suenen and Champagne Jacquesson. Of course, May is the month of graduations and weddings, but outside on Broadway, across from Lincoln Center, on our sidewalk café, with a glass of Champagne in hand, is more than enough reason to celebrate!

Monday, we will open 2002 ‘Montagne’ from Bérêche, we are really excited to explore this vintage from one of our favorite growers. Tuesday we will pop open Emmanuel Brochet’s Le Mont Benoit, from 2014 base vintage. This is one of the great wines of the Petite Montagne de Reims, from a very forward-thinking, organic grower. Wednesday, we will pop Ployez-Jacquemart’s Blanc de Blancs from the historic 2008 vintage in Champagne, and follow that up on Thursday with Pascal Doquet’s ‘Diapason’ from the Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, based on the 2007 vintage. Friday we will open Jacquesson’s ‘Cuvée 741,’ based on the 2013 vintage, from great terroir in Oiry, Avize, Aÿ, Hautvillers and Dizy, from a 3-Liter Jeroboam. The following evening, we will open our second-to-last Jeroboam of Cumières 1er Cru from Vincent Laval, which is not to be missed! Finally, we turn to the village of Oiry on Sunday evening, with Aurelien Suenen, and his electric Blanc de Blancs, one of our favorites from the Côte des Blancs.

Please join us this week at Bar Boulud for some beautiful bubbles!
