Another week of summer means another week of big rosé bottles. We have a lineup of soulful, Southern French wines to pair well with our late summer menu.
Starting off the week, as usual, with a magnum of « Garrus » from Château d’Esclans, a magical wine made from nearly century old vines in Provence. Its winemaking is inspired by Burgundian Grand Crus, and is a deliberately aromatic and luxurious glass of wine.
On Tuesday, we’ll run with another classic: Domaine du Gros ‘Noré. Located in Bandol, where Mourvèdre is especially happy, Alain Pascal makes a graceful yet powerful rosé. The wine’s energy and complexity make it the perfect pairing with most of Chef’s menu items—from a salade niçoise to summer cavatelli.
Finally on Friday, we’ll open up what one guest recently called the “If-You-Know-You-Know” bottle—a 3-L of Triennes Rosé. The knowledge: Triennes is a project of Aubert de Villaine (winemaker at Domaine Romanée-Conti) and Jeremy Seysses (winemaker at Domaine Dujac). A bright and coastal wine—from Coteaux Varois—that helped jumpstart North America’s obsession with rosé 10 years ago.
